After talking to a friend, I finally decided to dig out the contents of the mysterious cardboard tube from British Leyland's "Publicity Despatch Department". There was some chrome sticking out, along with parts wrapped in brown paper. Was there a vintage Mini poster or banner buried in there?

There didn't need to be for this to be a treasure tube. I emptied the eight or so pieces wrapped in brittle brown paper, along with the long, thin stretch of chrome.

One of the wrapped pieces had been uncovered on the end, and it appears to be a "new" window guide/weatherstripping for a read side window. The Traveller has two long side windows that each slide to the middle to ventilate the rear; similar to the traditional slider windows on the front of the Mini.

It turns out there was a complete set of guides for both front and rear windows in the tube. I carefully slid them back into the aged tube for storage until they are needed. I haven't cataloged the parts yet, but will this weekend.

The chrome piece fits along the front edge of the dashboard, "so I've got that going for me." I carefully returned that to the tube, as well.

My first Moss Motors catalog arrived over the weekend, too, so I started gazing in wonder at all the fun bits and pieces available for my car. A guy could really "pimp out" a car with this stuff.

Not the tack I'm taking. I don't intend to take this thing back to showroom floor quality. I mean, come on, it will have a replacement engine, new wheels, fun paint (I'm thinking red with bonnet stripes). I really intend to make this a (almost) daily driver, at least in decent weather. But, it's not a show piece. The Mini isn't exactly a rare exotic; there were over 5.5 million made between 1959 and 2000. So, I've decided to do this my way. I'll be true to the original car with the modifications, but plan to have a bit of fun with hit, as well. More as this thing continues.
