I attended my first Chicago Auto Show with my family on Valentine’s Day. I went into the show expecting the cloud of the economy to block out any rays of light from the show floor. The show not only provided an escape from any Woe of the Week, but provided plenty of sensory stimulation.

On Tolerance: The Cross Is Not Enough

When it comes to racial, cultural or ethnic relations, there is no better unifying force than Christian faith. Jesus teaches us to love one another, even our enemies. We’re called to go into all the world and make disciples of all people. We bear the cross as our symbol of salvation and this egalitarianism.

But, is that enough?

Re-New Orleans

The turning point in the recovery of the damage to New Orleans’ heart and soul seems to be about 36 months. My family recently returned to the Big Easy as the launching point for a western Caribbean cruise. The trip provided some great contrast to a visit just 15 months earlier.

Rethinking "Safe", or Thrown Into the Deep End

I was ready to call the doctor. My heart rate was elevated. It wouldn’t abate. Then, the anxiety set in. It was an “I’m gonna jump outta my skin” sort of anxiety, not anything angry or paranoid/dillusional. It was uncontrollable, uneasy, maybe even a little frightening.
